George Hotz: I’m ready for more Sony jailbreaking

Talented jailbreaker George Hotz says he is ready to crack more Sony devices, despite the fact that the Japanese-based company is currently suing him for coding and disseminating a popular Playstation 3 hack.

Specifically, Hotz has set his sights on jailbreaking Sony’s upcoming Xperia Play, which is powered by Google’s Android mobile OS.

“My attempts at humor aside, I do take this whole matter very seriously. Again, it’s not about me, I was on the verge of quitting this stuff last June, and I would hate to be the one who sets a reputation for hackers that all a company has to do is sue us and we back down,” explained Hotz.

“In fact, I want the opposite reputation set, that the more a company tries to abuse the legal system, the harder we rally back. I will be the first person in line on the launch date of the Xperia Play, and itching to get my hands on the Next GEOHOT Project.”

Personally, I think it is admirable that Hotz refuses to be intimidated by Sony’s clueless corporate lackeys who fail to understand the hacking community.

I mean, going after Hotz in court only proves that Sony has lost on the ground and in the real world.

So, perhaps Sony should focus its efforts on optimizing security protocols – both on a hardware and software level – for future products.

Because, as has become blatantly obvious, the battle to protect the PS3 is over.
