ElcomSoft has upgraded its key recovery platform with an integrated wireless sniffer to create an “all-in-one” WiFi cracking package.
Indeed, the latest iteration of the Wireless Security Auditor is now capable of automatically locating/sniffing wireless networks, intercepting data packets and cracking WPA/WPA2 PSK passwords.
According to ElcomSoft, the sniffer operates by displaying all available wireless networks – complete with channel numbers, MAC-addresses, SSID, speed, load and encryption parameters.
The sniffer then connects to a selected Wi-Fi network and logs all wireless traffic, including “handshake” packets required to starts the password recovery attack.
The new version of the Auditor also adds support for the AirPCap lineup of WiFi adapters, facilitating the transformation of any modern laptop with discrete graphics (i.e., AMD/Nvidia) into a mobile wireless security audit system.
The “all-in-one” Wireless Security Auditor is expected to provide forensic experts, law enforcement officials and network administrators with (supposedly lawful) access to protected wireless networks.
