Google slashes price on Picasa storage

Google said it’s dramatically reduced the price of Picasa storage – that’s where your cherished family pictures are all in a cloud.

In a blog posting, Google said that it’s “dramatically” lowering its prices and will offer Picasa space at 20GB for $5 a year. It said that’s twice as much storage for a quarter of the old prices.

20GB, Google reckons, is enough space for over 10,000 pictures taken with a five megapixel camera.

It estimates most people have less than 10GB of photographs and even if you haven’t, it has plans to offer a range of up to 16TB – enough for eight million high res pictures.

There can’t be many people that will snap that much.
