Twitter update hits Android

Android users can nod download a new version of everyone’s favorite microblogging site, offering new feature seen for the first time in the mobile app.

Among the changes in Twitter 2.0 for Android are the introduction of universal search, as well as opening up search functions without signing into Twitter. Previously, the app required you to have an account to even browse through the Twittering trends.

When you are signed in, you’ll see a new notification bar at the top where it’s simpler to see direct messages and new tweets/alerts. And finally, the last major update is that it automatically syncs your address book with Twitter matches. So, if you have Joe Smith, [email protected], in your address book, and Twitter recognizes that name and matching contact info, you’ll get to see Joe’s tweets automatically.

The update is available now for virtually all Android users.
