Producer offered $30 million for YouTube video

A producer from Uruguay has been offered a $30 million contract to transform a short YouTube clip into a full-length movie.

The movie will be sponsored by Sam Raimi, who directed both the Spiderman and Evil Dead films.

The now famous YouTube clip – which features giant robots invading and wreaking destruction on the Uruguayan capital of Montevideo – was produced by Fede Alvarez on a $300 budget.

The video is approximately 5 minutes long and has already received 1.5 million views.

“I uploaded Panic Attack! on a Thursday (in September) and on Monday my inbox was totally full of e-mails from Hollywood studios,” Alvarez told the BBC. ??”It was amazing, we were all shocked.”

Alvarez explained that his new video will be written and shot from “scratch” in Uruguay and Argentina.

“If some director from some country can achieve this just uploading a video to YouTube, it obviously means that anyone could do it,” concluded Alvarez.
