Ford showcases 2013 Fusion

Ford has gone official with its long-awaited 2013 Fusion midsize sedan. The vehicle boasts a sweet new design with some definite Jaguar influence.

As expected, the vehicle will be packed with all sorts of techie goodies, including Lane Keeping System, adaptive cruise control, active park assist and MyFord Touch.

Ford is slated to offer the new Fusion in three versions: normal gasoline, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid powertrain. The vehicles will be available with manual or automatic transmissions, in front-wheel drive, and all-wheel drive.

In addition, Ford will offer two different EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine options: a 2.0L EcoBoost or a 1.6L EcoBoost. Of course, a regular 4-cylinder can be purchased as well.

The EcoBoost 1.6L engine will give the Fusion 26mpg in the city and 37mpg on the highway. The hybrid version – which uses lithium-ion batteries – is capable of powering 62mph on battery power alone, while providing 47mpg in the city and 44mpg on the highway.

The 2013 Fusion is slated to roll off production lines as the S, SE, or Titanium. Pricing and general availability for the new models has yet to be announced.
