Social games like Farmville and Mafia Wars may have been born into the Facebook revolution, but it seems as if similar titles will be a major part of Google+ as well.
Based on reports and a screenshot of Google’s help pages obtained by Slashgear, it appears that Google+ already includes lines of code for a “Games Stream” designed to host “updates shared from games.”
After the social network launched just about a month ago, Engadget uncovered code referring to game invites and “Google+ Games.”
TechCrunch then found a Google Games logo and code to link features to an API. Google’s Vic Gundotra later confirmed the company is working on a developer API for Google+.
Interestingly enough, Google apparently plansto take 30% less than Facebook on paid game elements and wants to host titles on its own servers.
Giving game makers more profit could mean a big push for the beta social network by attracting developer loyalty and attention.
In any case, all of the above-mentioned clues, plus a job listing for a product manager at a “brand-new business” called “Games at Google,” pretty much confirms the future presence of games on the rapidly evolving social platform.
