Qualcomm debuts "Flo" mobile television device

Qualcomm has debuted a handheld television device that offers instant access to live and time-shifted content. The $250 “FLO” weighs just over five ounces and features a 3.5-inch QVGA touch-screen display.

“FLO is setting the standard for high-quality mobile TV thanks to our award-winning network and technology,” explained FLO president Bill Stone. “It provides [access to] full-length simulcasts and programming from a [number of entertainment companies], including Adult Swim Mobile, CBS Mobile, CNBC, Comedy Central, Fox News, MSNBC, MTV, NBC 2Go and Nickelodeon.

According to Stone, FLO TV renders high-quality video by tapping into an advanced national mobile television network.

“The service is available through a dedicated multicast network so millions of consumers can simultaneously get amazingly high-quality video and audio in real time without streaming, buffering or downloads.”

He also noted that the FLO was equipped with a long-life battery which provided over five hours of viewing time and approximately 300 hours on standby.

“With a large screen, built-in adjustable viewing stand and integrated stereo speakers, FLO TV Personal Television can entertain you whenever you want and wherever you are,” added Stone.

The $250 Flo TV is available immediately and can be purchased from Amazon, Best Buy and Radio Shack.
