ATF loses hundreds of firearms in clandestine op

If you were playing a first person shooter on the hardest level, would you click a button that armed your enemies with thousands of guns to potentially be used against you?

Well, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives actually did just that in real life and now there are secret recordings related to the debacle.

Are you familiar with the ATF’s Operation Fast and Furious? It has nothing to do with Vin Diesel, but it sure is a doozy. It’s such a debacle that even the mainstream media is covering it; they haven’t probed this far into the federal government’s criminal activity for quite some time.

The Los Angeles Times has put together a nice special section devoted to ongoing coverage of the scandal. Here’s their summary paragraph of the ordeal:

“A federal operation dubbed Fast and Furious allowed weapons from the U.S. to pass into the hands of suspected gun smugglers so the arms could be traced to the higher echelons of Mexican drug cartels. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which ran the operation, has lost track of hundreds of firearms, many of which have been linked to crimes, including the fatal shooting of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry in December 2010.”

This whole thing would have been kept a secret from the American public if it weren’t for a few ATF agents who blew the whistle on the dangerous plan.

The ATF was giving the violent Mexican drug cartels weapons. These are the same cartels that murder and cut people’s heads off just to send messages to their enemies.

And our taxpayer funded ATF gave them more weapons, knowing full well that these weapons would be used in violent crimes. Why on earth would they allow the cartels to get their hands on weapons? Did they do it so they could claim that the Bill of Rights needs to be restricted when the cartel inevitably killed someone with the weapons they released?

They say it’s a failed “sting” operation, but I, for one, am not buying that.

Did I mention that some of the weapons that were allowed to be sold illegally were used in the death of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry? Yes, Brian Terry’s own government directly put him in danger, when he was already in enough danger dealing with the cartels near the border.

The federal government gave the Mexican Drug cartels a real life power up, pretty twisted isn’t?

According to CBS, the recordings that have come out recently raise questions that make observers wonder if the ATF is hiding evidence related to the Brian Terry’s death. I may sound preachy, but Terry was a Marine, like myself, so this more upsetting to me than the government’s schemes usually are.

I’d like to say this is all such a shock and whatnot, but in the post 9-11 national security state, nothing surprises me. Are we our own worst enemy or what?

What’s next, are they going to give all of the blue prints for our advanced weaponry to China and then try and claim that it happened because the Internet needs to be censored? Oh man, I hope the feds didn’t just read that…
