Nvidia preps Tegra 2 for massive tablet deployment

Nvidia has reportedly clinched a number of lucrative orders for its powerful Tegra 2 processor.

According to DigiTimes, Tegra 2 will be deployed in tablet PCs designed by various industry heavyweights, such as Asus (10-inch Eee Pad), Dell, Samsung, Micro-Star International and Toshiba.

The Tegra 2 is also slated to power several next-gen smartphones manufactured by Motorola, LG Electronics and Asus.

It should be noted that Nvidia’s second-gen Tegra has apparently been tapped to run a grand total of 50 smartphones and tablets, with volumes (eventually) projected to reach one million units.

Notable Tegra 2 specs include:

  • Mobile dual-core (ARM Cortex-A9) CPU.
  • Up to 2x faster Web browsing.
  • 5x faster gaming.
  • 1080p HD support.
  • Ultra-low power (ULP) GeForce GPU.
