Apple has got mixed views for its alleged move to ditch the headphone jack in iPhone 7 this year. What’s even worse is that the upcoming iPhone model will become totally confined to lightning connector.

That’s not all, reports indicate that Apple might be working on a wireless version of Airpods that will be launched later this year. But like most Apple products, these will be priced on the higher side.

So, if having to use a separate charger for iPhone wasn’t enough, from now on the same headache will have to be borne for headphones as well.

The report highlights that Apple’s preference for longer battery life, and better connectivity stance will force them to look beyond Bluetooth for the wireless earpods. This ensures that Apple remains loyal to its closed-ecosystem model.

It would also be fair to say that most people might end up buying the wireless earpods, which forces us to question Apple’s move to come with lightning connector earpods in the first place.
