Microsoft says no tethering for Windows Phone 7

Is the Balmy Ballmer sitting in his Redmond Fortress of Solitude thinking of ways to make Windows Phone 7 suck even more than it already does?

Seriously, folks. Let’s think about this for a moment.

After the embarrassing Kin debacle, an utterly unfazed Microsoft continued its Sisyphean endeavor to create yet another bloated Windows OS for mobile devices.

But does the bastard Son-of-Kin platform support true multitasking?

Of course not. Still, we can be generous and try to give Microsoft the benefit of the doubt on this one.

I mean, we all know that Windows appeals to the absolute lowest common denominator, right?

And it is probably fair to assume that most Windows users won’t even notice this glaring deficiency as they struggle to figure out how the phone switches on and off.

Still, even the most diehard and deluded Microsoft fanboi is likely to be put off by the fact that Verizon is relatively unenthusiastic about Redmond’s latest experiment.

Yes, indeed, the company has steadfastly refused to sell WP7 devices until at least 2011.

Which means AT&T (aka as “everyone’s favorite mandatory choice”) is now presumed to be the “premier carrier” for WP7.

But wait, it gets even better.

Today, Microsoft confirmed that its Hindenburg-prone device won’t support tethering and is completely incapable of acting as a hot spot.

WTF!?!?!?

Does anyone at Redmond seriously believe that the masses are going to give up their iPhones, Androids and BlackBerries for a phone that doesn’t support:

– True multitasking.

– Copy and paste.

– Tethering.

– No CMDA carrier option until 2011.

I know I won’t. Will you!?
