USB typewriter spotted in the wild

A talented Steampunk modder by the name of Jack Zylkin has converted a number of typewriters into fully-functioning USB keyboards.

The modded antique input devices can be used with any USB-capable computer, including a PC, Mac or iPad.

“The modification is easy to install, it involves no messy wiring, and does not change the outward appearance of the typewriter,” explained Zylkin.

“So the end result is a retro-style USB keyboard that not only looks great, but feels great to use.”

The typewriter keyboards carry a hefty $400-$500 price tag, although a DIY kit is available for $75 and a pre-fab kit for $150.
