OCZ to show off USB 3.0 solid state drive

Symwave and OCZ said they will demonstrate an external hard drive at the CES show in Las Vegas.

The drive uses Symwave’s USB 3.0 storage controller and will deliver 10 times the transfer rate of USB 2.0 – which transfers data at 5Gb/s.

The release of the solid state drive (SSD) will be at the forefront of the market, claimed OCZ.

OCZ Technology is a manufacturer of high performance memory, solid state drives and computer PSUs, while Symwave is a fabless semiconductor company that puts together SoCs (systems on chips) and software aimed at SuperSpeed USB 3.0.

Next year is likely to be the year when USB 3.0 devices begin to proliferate in the marketplace.
