iPad users are male, rich and enjoy using Flickr, according to a Yahoo user analysis.
Men outnumber women two-to-one, particularly in the 35-44 age group. Nearly half already owned an iPhone. The user profile is significantly older than for Yahoo users in general.
And, says Ashley Cheng of Yahoo Insights, “The first Yahoo iPad users were 94 percent more likely to be affluent consumers with solid wealth and strong incomes than typical US Yahoo users.”
It could be a good reason to join the Apple-only Cupidtino dataing service.
This profile is borne out by the list of top interests identified by Yahoo – Flickr, Finance, Sports and News.
“Flickr usage by iPad users is 143 percent higher than average. Because the iPad is meant for Internet browsing and media consumption, visits to Flickr seem to be a logical choice,” says Cheng.
Perhaps surprisingly, given that the iPad hasn’t officially shipped outside the US yet, Yahoo says it’s getting a lot of international traffic. It says around 10 percent of IP traffic comes from Europe and Asia Pacific.
“Specifically, the UK, France, and Germany are the top countries in Europe, and Taiwan and Hong Kong make up the most traffic in Asia Pacific,” says Cheng.
