Acer launches 3D monitors

In case you’re still craving more 3D entertainment in your life, Acer is stepping up its monitor portfolio.

The company has just released two new computer monitors, both with state-of-the-art LED technology, offering 100 million:1 contrast ratios, a built-in IR emitter, and full HDMI connectivity.

The biggest feature, though, is the addition of 3D functionality. Users can plug the monitor into any modern computer and be equipped to run 3D games, watch Blu-ray 3D movies, or stream live 3D video content through their monitor.

The new monitor line is available in 23.6 inches and 27 inches. Acer claims the latter is the first and only 27-inch 3D LED monitor on the market.

The 27-inch model also uses Nvidia’s proprietary tech, which is currently the only standard for 3D computing. Nvidia 3D glasses with active 3D shutter technology are included with the monitor.

“Acer’s newest 3D displays are a powerful tool for providing fun and visual excitement for years to come.  Their compelling benefits include an ultra high level of clarity and 50 percent more power savings than other 3D solutions. Setting the standard for premium 3D multimedia, the new Acer 3D displays give the sensation of full immersion in a virtual world, while the contemporary design sports stylish features, convenient touch-sensitive controls and earth-friendly materials,” the company said in a statement.

The 23.6-inch monitor is available for $449, while the 27-inch one will set you back $689.
