$89 MK809 III quad-core Android TV stick hits pre-order

If you’re in the market for a new Android-powered TV stick, the MK809 III, which features a quad-core Rockchip RK3188 processor, is now available for pre-order.

As we’ve discussed previously on TG Daily, the above-mentioned SoC looks like it will be quite common in the Android-powered TV stick market, all while powering tablets and other mobile devices as well.

As noted above, there are number of RK3188-equipped devices on the horizon, including the Yuando N80 tablet, several other Android-powered TV sticks and the Tronsmart T428. The MK809 III is up to pre-order via W2Comp right now for $89, with the retailer expected to kick off shipping in early May.

Other than that quad-core processor, the Android-powered TV stick runs Jelly Bean and boasts 2 GB of RAM, 8 GB of integrated storage, ARM Mali-400 graphics, integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0. Storage expansion is available via a microSD card slot, along with a pair of micro USB ports and single full-size USB port.

As with most devices of this type, the stick also features an HDMI connector on one end for directly plugging into your TV set. The above-mentioned USB ports allow users to connect the keyboard and mouse via wires or wireless peripherals – depending on what they want to do. Once connected to a TV, the Android operating system should allow users to download any number of apps for streaming video or playing games from the comfort of their big screen TVs and living rooms.
