China-based Benss has debuted a $45 “MP5” player that combines the functionality of an MP4 device with an electronic book reader.
According to ChinITech, the BENSS BX-82 is capable of streaming 720p and 768p HD videos in multiple formats, including RM, RMVB, TS, PMP, AVI, MOV and MKV.
“It is…possible to watch videos on [a] TV screen as it has an TV output. [However], it is not clear whether it is an HDMI output.
“In addition, you will be able to listen to music because it can play most audio files and you will be able to navigate through your photo albums.”
The BENSS BX-82 “MP5” player also features a 4.3 inch TFT LCD screen, 4GB of internal memory, along with support for PDF and txt files.
“As we expected, the MP4 player which is evolving more and more in China with many functions has just found a new name…It’s [for] sure…MP5 players will begin to encroach on the market for e-Readers. It will now be more frequent to meet MP4 HD Players that support PDF files,” added ChinITech.
