Archos 101 XS 2 tablet priced at $279

Archos has been a manufacturer of Android tablets for some time now, with a full portfolio that scales up and down based on specs and use cases.

Recently, the company announced that it will be rolling out a new 10-inch Android tablet with a quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, $279 price tag and a December shipping date.

Dubbed the Archos 101 XS 2, the 10-inch Android tablet is equipped with a (1.6 GHz) quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and a keyboard cover.

Additional specs include a 1280 x 800 pixel IPS display, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS.

As Liliputing’s Brad Linder notes, the 101 XS 2 is packaged with a Coverboard, a thin magnetic cover that acts as both a keyboard and kickstand for the tablet. Meaning, the device can be used like a notebook or propped up for watching movies and music clips.

The 101 XS 2 is slated to ship with Google Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean), OfficeSuite Pro 6 software, and Archos Media Center software. As expected, the tablet is a Google certified device, offering full access to the Google Play Store for apps, music, movies, books and other content.
