iRiver debuts the 7-inch WOWtab

The South Korean-based iRiver has debuted a 7-inch Android tablet powered by a 1.2 GHz Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor.

Dubbed the WOWtab ITQ700, key specs include 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS capabilities and yes, a microSD card slot.

The WOWtab is priced at $229, which may be a little bit steep for an Nvidia Tegra 3 SoC, especially since the Tegra 4 will be coming to market soon.

Then again, Ouya seems to be perfectly content with the Tegra 3 for the first iteration of its upcoming Android console, so perhaps the chip will have enough staying power to entice mobile enthusiasts in Korea. It remains unclear if the tablet will be heading to American shores, although its probably safe to say the WOWtab’s successor will – if initial sales ultimately take off.

In other tablet related news, a tablet known as the Cherry Mobile Fusion Bolt will soon be on sale for $99 in the Philippines.

The $100 price point is impressive indeed, especially as it is powered by a quad-core 1 GHz Action Semiconductor AM7029 ARM Cortex-A9 processor paired with a 7-inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display.

Additional specs include Android Jelly Bean (4.1), 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, WiFI, Bluetooth, a front-facing camera, a microSD card slot and a 4000mAh battery.
