MSI Enjoy Android tablet priced at $172

MSI is currently selling a low-cost, 7-inch tablet dubbed the Enjoy 71.

The device is priced at a cool $172 in Taiwan, but has yet to make its way to US shores.

The tablet specs are fairly respectable for the above-mentioned price point, boasting a 1024×600 pixel display, 1.5 GHz Amlogic AM8726 dual core processor and Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) for the OS.

Additional specs? 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, a 2MP rear camera a front-facing VGA camera and a 3200mAh battery.

Frankly, it is somewhat disappointing that the Enjoy 71 isn’t loaded with Jelly Bean (4.1-4.2), but I suppose the average mainstream user on the lookout for a budget device isn’t exactly clamoring for the latest and greatest version of Google’s OS.

That being said, Liliputing’s Brad Linder does make a good point, namely, if you spend just $30 more you can pick up Mountain View’s Nexus 7 tablet with a faster processor and higher resolution display.

Then again, MSI’s tablet does include a mini HDMI port and microSD card slot, both of which are conspicuously absent on the Nexus 7.

Plus, unlike Amazon’s lineup of Fire tablets, the Enjoy 71 offers full access to Google’s expansive Play store, rather than a limited curated app storefront.
