HP has introduced a new business-oriented device dubbed the EliteBook Revolve. Essentially, the Windows-8 powered PC is a touch-enabled notebook computer with a pivoting screen that allows users to share their work, while folding the notebook into a tablet form factor.
HP says the machine is designed for both business and government customers who require an ultrathin notebook as well as a touch-enabled tablet.
The machine is powered by third-generation Intel Core processors and optimized for Windows 8 (Pro), although it is capable of running previous versions of Microsoft’s operating system, specifically Windows 7 Pro.
The HD display measures 11.6-inches, while the machine weighs 3.04 pounds. The hybrid device is also equipped with a 720p resolution HD camera built-in and a dual-microphone array. The machine supports DTS Studio Sound and features enterprise docking capabilities.
The screen of the convertible notebook is covered in scratch resistant Gorilla Glass 2 and the machine has an all magnesium chassis. Other notebook specs include integrated Wi-Fi, USB 3.0 ports, secure NFC communications, DisplayPort output, and fast SSD storage solutions.
The EliteBook Revolve is slated for March 2013, with pricing expected to be disclosed a few weeks before launch.
