Asus Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 lands in US next month

If you’re in the market for an Android tablet, Asus has a new device launching in the US next month starting at a cool $499.

The tablet – dubbed the Transformer Infinity – was announced a few months ago at the 2012 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Starting July 16, the tablet will go on sale in two versions: a $499 32 GB model and a $599 64 GB version.

As expected, a keyboard dock accessory designed to extend battery life by 5 hours while facilitating easy typing will be sold as an additional item for $149. The good news? If you already own an Asus Transformer Prime tablet, the TF201 keyboard dock is confirmed to work with the TF700.

Tablet specifications include a 10-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200,  Bluetooth 3.0, an eight-megapixel camera out back and a two-megapixel camera in front. The tablet – which weighs 1.31 pounds and is .33-inches thick – is also equipped with an anti-scratch Gorilla Glass display, 1 GB of RAM and a 25 Wh (8 hour) battery.

The tablet will be available in Wi-Fi only and LTE (AT&T) versions. Interestingly enough, the Wi-Fi and LTE versions are loaded with different chips: the Wi-Fi only iteration is equipped with a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3, while the 4G version boasts a dual-core Snapdragon S4.
