Samsung confirms Android 4.0 ICS upgrade list

Samsung makes some of the most popular Android smartphones and tablets currently on the market.

Undoubtedly, more than a few of you out there with a Samsung device have been waiting with some semblance of patience for an upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS). Well, you’re in luck, because Samsung has now posted a full list of devices slated to be upgraded to Android 4.0.

Unfortunately, there is an issue if you happen to be using a Samsung Android device on the T-Mobile network, as no upgrade details are (yet) offered for any T-Mobile smartphones or tablets.

If you own a Samsung Android smartphone or tablet running on AT&T or Verizon, you will be getting the update for a number of devices. Yes, Android 4.0 will be arriving on the Galaxy S II, S II Skyrocket, the Galaxy Note, Glide, Nexus S and the 8.9-inch Galaxy Tab.

Sadly, for Verizon, only tablets are listed on the Android 4.0 update list. The tablets include the Galaxy Tab 7.7 and 10.1 along with Wi-Fi only versions of the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, Galaxy Tab 8.9, and Galaxy Tab 10.1. Sprint users will get the update for the Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch.

There is a glimmer of hope if you’re on T-Mobile using a Samsung device. Samsung said, “We are in close communication with T-Mobile to ensure that eligible devices are upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in the coming months and will provide updates as we have additional details to share.”

You’ve undoubtedly noticed that there are no specific dates offered for these Android 4.0 updates. Samsung only confirms it is in communication with carriers and Google with the goal of completing the upgrades “as quickly and smoothly as possible.”
