Viewsonic announces new Ice Cream Sandwich devices

If you’ve been unimpressed with the amount of Ice Cream Sandwich devices on the market so far, Viewsonic has just what you’re looking for.

The company has announced a whole bunch of devices running on Google’s latest Android platform, ahead of next week’s big Mobile World Congress trade show.

On the smartphone side of things, Viewsonic has revealed the Viewphone 4s, Viewphone 4e, and Viewphone 5e. The 4s has a 3.5-inch display, a 5-megapixel rear camera and VGA front camera, and a 1 GHz processor.

The 4e comes packed with a 3.5-inch display as wel, but only 650 MHz worth of processing power, and only one camera, a 3-megapixel rear-facing one. This phone will obviously be priced with the budget-conscious consumer in mind.

Finally, the 5e has a 5-inch display and an 800×480 resolution. Additional details on this model were not unveiled today, but will likely come to light at the MWC event next week.

On the tablet side of things, the company has introduced the Viewpad G70, Viewpad E100, and Viewpad P100. The P100 is the odd one out because that one is powered by Windows 7; a curious choice given that the much more tablet-friendly Windows 8 will be available later this year.

On the Android front, both the E100 and the G70 will run on Ice Cream Sandwich. The 7-inch G70 has 1 GB of RAM, 4 GB of built-in storage, and rear and front cameras.

The E100, meanwhile, has a 9.7-inch display and a 1 GHz processor. Full details will again be revealed next week, but suffice it to say Viewsonic is coming out in support of Ice Cream Sandwich in a much more aggressive way than we’ve seen other manufacturers so far.
