The newest smartphone to carry Verizon’s prized ‘Droid’ handle is now available on Verizon’s website.
The Droid 3 is the most fully-charged entry to the Droid family yet, with a 1 GHz dual-core processor, 16 GB of available storage capacity, and a 4-inch qHD display.
The phone also sports an impressive 8 MP camera, but unfortunately it does not support Verizon’s new 4G LTE network.
Of course, this phone’s launch also marks new territory for the Droid platform as the first to launch after the advent of Verizon’s new data pricing structure.
Anyone who picks up the new phone and doesn’t want to pay the ungodly full retail price will have to sign up for one of the capped data limits under the new infrastructure. Unlimited plans are no longer an option for new contracts.
The new structure offers up to a 10 GB limit for $80 per month, a far cry from Verizon’s current prices, which were already pushing the boundaries as some of the most expensive in the market.
As has become a staple with the Droid family, the price for customers who sign up for a new two-year service agreement is $200. So at least that side remains constant.
For those who are already locked into an unlimited Verizon data plan, the plan remains in effect. For everyone else, it’s a tough proposition, but the Droid 3 certainly does tantalize.
