Netscape's Andreessen predicts new browser wars ahead

Despite widespread Microsoft Internet Explorer use, alternative browsers like Safari and Firefox will grow in popularity and propel Microsoft toward more competitive strategies, says Marc Andreessen, founder of Netscape Communications.

Speaking at the Web 2.0 conference in San Francisco, Andreessen noted that Firefox and Safari may turn out to have a “one-two punch” that would force Microsoft to respond by producing new IE features.
