Semiconductor royalties on the rise

Intellectual property (IP) is becoming an increasingly important player in the chip industry, a study released by iSupply suggests. The market research firm believes that royalties in the IP market will climb from $1.2 in 2004 to more than $2 billion in 2009. Growth in this segment will reach an average of 10.6 percent through the next four years and outstrip growth in the overall semiconductor market, iSuppli said. (THG)
