Instat: Asia to be world's largest mobile market within a decade

Asia may become the largest regional mobile telecommunications market in the world over the next five to ten years, reports In-Stat. In 2004, the number of mobile users in Asia including Japan, Australia and New Zealand hit 740 million subscribers, contributing US$180 billion in revenues, the market research firm says. By 2009, the Asia mobile telecom market will reach more than US$260 billion in revenues, with India as the fastest growing country, In-Stat forecasts.
