Microsoft sues Russia-based spam network

The attorney general of Massachussetts, Thomas Reilly, sued a group of spammers, reportedly one of the world’s largest rings generating millions of unsolicited e-mails monthly for illegal products. The network operated from two locations, one near Boston, the other in Russia.

The alleged ringleader is Leo Kuvayev. The suit was brought on the basis of an accusation supplied by Microsoft against him and six other people associated with two companies, 2K Services Ltd. and Ecash Pay Ltd. The state judge, Ralph D. Gants, ordered the shutdown of the companies.
