Amazon Cloud Player goes live for Ford Sync AppLink equipped vehicles

Amazon has confirmed that its Cloud Player is now available for owners of Ford vehicles with Sync Applink capability.

The feature is supported on 2013 Ford Fiesta, Mustang, Focus, E-Series, C-Max Hybrid, the Expedition, Fusion, F-150, and Super Duty vehicles.

Owners of compatible vehicles from Ford can wirelessly connect to the Amazon MP3 app on their Android smartphone and then access all of the music on the Cloud Player music library in the car using voice commands with the Ford Sync voice control system.

Once connected, users access music playlists via voice commands or dashboard controls on the vehicle. Users can also stream music stored in the Cloud Player or play music stored locally on their mobile phone. Streaming audio is offered at 256 kbps quality.

“We want customers to be able enjoy their entire music library wherever they want, from whatever device they choose,” explained Amazon rep Steve Boom. “And we know that cars and music go hand-in-hand. That’s why we’re excited to bring Cloud Player to the car.”

Amazon says that it has millions of customers using the Cloud Player to download, manage, and stream music via a number of devices on the market today, including the Kindle Fire, Android tablets/smartphones, iPhone, iPod Touch, Mac, PC, Sonos devices, and Roku set-top boxes.

It should probably also be noted that Amazon has been busy adding some interesting features for its music services over the last few months, such as AutoRip that offers customers access to free MP3 versions of music they purchased on physical CDs all the way back since 2008.
