Acer lining up 2009 notebook production to take on HP

Acer plans to launch a 11.6-inch notebook in the second half of 2009 with an initial shipment of 150,000-200,000 units to compete with Hewlett-Packard (HP), according to notebook industry sources. HP originally planned to ship a 11.6-inch notebook by the end of this year, but reduced market demand has forced the company to postpone the model's mass shipment schedule to the first half of 2009.
