Qualcomm’s mobile Snapdragon 800 SoC is blazingly fast

Qualcomm is currently showcasing its 800 SoC (MSM8974) running on a developer tablet and smartphone.

According to Engadget, the tablet boasts an 11.6-inch 1,920 x 1,080-pixel display, 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM, 32GB of built-in flash storage (with microSD expansion), USB 3.0 support and a 12 megapixel AF rear camera with flash (2MP fixed-focus in front).

Meanwhile, the chassis measures 0.46 inches / 11.7mm and is powered by a 3,400mAh Li-ion battery. Additional specs? LTE band 17, WiFi ac, Bluetooth 4 LE, GPS, NFC and sensors – including pressure and humidity.

In terms of the phone, most of the specs are the same, although the screen is understandably smaller at 4.3-inches (1,280 x 720 pixels), as is the battery (1,500mAh).

As Engadget’s Myriam Joire notes, the benchmark tests run by the publication illustrate the SoC’s “ludicrous speed,” with the tablet hitting 20,762 in quadrant and smartphone racking up a score of 22,022. The SoC also fared well in AnTuTu 3.x, maxing out at 35, 783 (tablet) and 33,828 (phone), respectively. Sunspider? How about 657 (tablet) and 674 (smartphone).
