Computer consultant hits domain name jackpot

A computer consultant has captured the highest price ever paid for a publicly-sold domain name - $3 million.

Marcelo Siero of Ben Lomond, Calif. sold the domain name loans.com at an online auction to an undisclosed financial firm.

The price was the third highest ever received for a domain name. Business.com sold for $7.5 million and Altavista.com for $3.25 million - both through private parties.
