Sony shrinks Memory Stick

Sony announced it will release a smaller version of its chewing gum-size Memory Stick data storage device that will be about half the size of the original.

The Memory Stick Duo will launch in the first quarter of 2001 and, like its predecessor, will offer either 32- or 64-megabit capacity, Sony said.

The smaller device will allow Sony to develop smaller audio and visual products, and is also small enough to use in modems and wireless Bluetooth devices.
