Lando Calrissian wants in on Star Wars Episode VII

With Empire Strikes Back, smooth and suave Billy Dee Williams was able to make a big name for himself as a sci-fi action hero Lando Calrissian.

While we know that the original triad of Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford will be coming back for the next installment, there’s also the hope that more secondary character like Lando could have a shot too.

This could neatly fit in with the spin off Star Wars movies that are also going to be part of the Empire’s return, and along with Yoda and Boba Fett, maybe Lando could have his own movie one day as well. As Giant Freakin Robot notes, one potential spin off film idea is a young Han Solo movie, and perhaps there could be a young Lando along with him.

As Movies.com reports, Williams brought this up at the Emerald City Comic-Con in Seattle, and he said he hasn’t been approached by the powers that be about returning, but of course he’d be more than happy to come back. Then Billy’s rep grabbed the mic, and told the audience if you want to see Lando back to launch a write in campaign to JJ Abrams, Lucasfilm, Disney, anybody who could help out.

When it was official that Star Wars would be coming back, you knew a lot of people would volunteer to help out, although quite a few directors were scared to take on the biggest sci-fi franchise in history, including JJ Abrams himself before he was finally won over by producer Kathleen Kennedy.

Nevertheless, with Star Wars you know you would never have to go around pleading for people to help, and Billy Dee, along with Samuel L Jackson and composer John Williams, are ready to go if the Empire beckons them again.
