Avengers home video gets detailed

The Avengers will be available on Blu-ray, DVD, and VOD September 25, 2012.

The superhero action film is slated to debut alongside a massive box that includes other movies featuring the Avengers team, including Iron Man, The Hulk, Thor, etc.

With The Avengers now the third biggest movie of all time, there’s no doubt tons of copies will be flying out the door when it’s ready for home viewing.

Now some details of what you’ll get when you buy a copy. As Cinema Blend tells us, “The Avengers will follow what’s become SOP for home-video releases, meaning there’s going to be a multi-disc combo pack.”

This will give you the film on 3D Blu-Ray, flatscreen Blu-Ray, DVD, a digital copy of the film, and a download of soundtrack. (Obviously today’s audiences don’t want a CD of it). This version will go for $49.99 retail, and you can get the Blu-Ray / DVD package for $39.99, or just the regular DVD for $29.99.

As far as extras, there’s the making of documentaries, “Assembling the Ultimate Team,” and “A Visual Journey,” a gag reel, and an audio commentary with Joss Whedon.

Another modern advancement that will keep you amused while you wait for the home video release is an app Marvel is putting out for the home video release.

The app is coded to deliver new content every two weeks through July and August, then every week in September until the home video release on the 25th, which is certainly a sweet idea for today’s generation.

The app also offers special access to the S.H.I.E.L.D. database, becoming a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, invitations to ‘special missions’ either remotely or in the field, links to character profiles, stories and scenes, interactive Marvel digital reader comic books and more.
