Video: Moga Android gaming controller is in the wild

The Moga Mobile Gaming System – which supports smartphones and tablets running Android 2.3 – began shipping this past week.

The controller boasts a flip-up arm that holds smartphones securely on top of the device, which is available in more than 7,000 stores around the country, including Walmart, Best Buy and Toys “R” Us.

Of course, the controller can also be purchased online for a cool $49.99. If you’re not sure the Moga is for you, some Toys “R” Us and Best Buy stores have set up hands-on demonstration stations for those interested in trying out the device.

There are currently over 45 games on the market that support the controller, including some big-name titles like the Dark Knight Rises HD, N.O.V.A. 3, Sonic CD, Death Rally and Dungeon Hunter 3.

As you can see in the video above, the controller boasts dual analog sticks, two shoulder buttons, four action buttons, and standardized start and select buttons. Frankly, the layout is very similar to an Xbox 360 controller, so if you are comfortable with that, the Moga is probably for you.

The flip up holder for smartphones supports devices up to 3.2-inches thick. While your tablet certainly won’t fit in a flip up arm, you can still connect the controller to the tablet using Bluetooth. Power for the controller is generated a pair of AAA batteries and promises 18 hours of gaming.
