Video: The undead of WarZ play the game

There are a number of really cool games slated to hit the streets over the next several months, including Halo 4 and CoD: Black Ops 2.

Personally, I’m most excited about two zombie titles in the works: WarZ and DayZ. As you may recall, DayZ is an upcoming the game that originally started as a popular player made mod for Arma and was recently picked up for development as a standalone video game.

But back to The WarZ and its first official game play trailer that went live today. The clip showcases nighttime co-op game play with one player standing on a bridge overpass observing another player on the ground collecting supplies and killing zombies.

The trailer well illustrates the open environments and the scary gloom of the zombie-infected MMO. Clearly, the game is infected with a very creepy vibe, as  you can only see as far as your flashlight shines.

We also have a few more details about the game, including a look at how the inventory system works. The publisher and developer of the game say that the game won’t be free to download, but won’t require a subscription. WarZ will use microtransactions, but the developers promise players won’t be able to pay for an in game advantage.

“The War Z is first and foremost a ‘sandbox’ survival game. We’re creating an open world for players to live in, explore and ultimately create their own experience. There are no character levels or unrealistic stats, skills or abilities to learn and new players just joining the game will be on almost the same level playing field as a player that has been playing for a month,” the creators say.

“The game play is designed to be an open world sandbox so that players really have the opportunity to create their own, unique experience. We don’t define any quests that you have to complete in order to obtain items in the game. However, players will be able to create their own quests and missions for other players and then post rewards for completing those missions. We just provide the tools and the players create the experience.”

Beta testing will start by the end of the summer with a full launch rolling out this Fall. Be sure to watch the game play trailer for yourself, but you might want to make sure the lights are on.
