Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight Begins Shooting

There’s a lot of big movies that are coming this year, Avengers Age of Ultron and Star Wars The Force Awakens will certainly be the two biggest, and if things go according to schedule, Quentin Tarantino will have a new one out in theaters this year too.

Shooting has just begun on The Hateful Eight, a western, with principal photography starting on Friday, January 23, in Telluride, Colorado.

There was a point where this movie almost didn’t get made, and it ended up leading to a grudge suit against Gawker. Tarantino endlessly whined to Deadline about the script being leaked, which was going to happen no matter what – his scripts are always widely read among fans before they’re made – and he ended up suing the gossip site for providing a link to the script. The suit ultimately went nowhere, and even with the decree that he wouldn’t make the movie, it is indeed rolling as of this writing.

The Hateful Eight stars Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Michael Madsen, and Channing Tatum, among others. Where every Tarantino movie has at least one actor with comeback potential, Hateful Eight will also star Lee Horsley, star of Matt Houston, who also made an appearance in Django Unchained.
