Video: How to play WoW on the Kinect

A talented USC team has coded a Flexible Action and Articulated Skeleton Toolkit (FAAST), which facilitates the easy integration of full-body control with games and VR applications.

FAAST currently supports the PrimeSensor and Microsoft’s popular Xbox 360 Kinect platform using the OpenNI framework.

As can be observed in the video, FAAST is already more than capable of controlling off-the-shelf video games such as World of Warcraft (WoW).

“Since these games would not normally support motion sensing devices, FAAST emulates keyboard input triggered by body posture and specific gestures,” the USC team explained in a YouTube post.

“These controls can be dynamically configured for different applications and games.”
