Toshiba develops liquid crystal panel for 3D glasses

Toshiba has developed an OCB (Optically Compensated Bend) liquid crystal display panel for 3D glasses.

Spectacles manufactured with the advanced OCB panel are expected to offer a high-speed response time, a wide viewing angle and optimized contrast.

“Glasses adopting these panels feature high-speed shutter opening and closing, yielding a significant reduction in 3D crosstalk,” Toshiba explained in an official statement.

“In addition, the wide viewing angle provides vivid 3D images across a wide field of view, such as in movie theaters and living rooms.”

According to Toshiba, the glasses will allow users to view high-quality 3D images with “minimal fatigue” when watching TV, movies or playing a game for an extended period of time.
