On hiatus since 2006, System of a Down has announced that they will reunite next year for a summer tour making stops throughout June, including one at the Download Festival in the UK. The band writes on their website: “We have no master plan of sorts – we are playing these shows simply because we want to play together again as a band and for you, our amazing fans.” Well said.

It’s the season of giving, and the folks at 4AD and The Red Hot Organization are doing just that. They recently announced that the Dark Was The Night album, released in February 2009, has officially raised $1,000,000 for several charities chosen by the featured artists.

New music this week includes even more Daft Punk songs from the Tron: Legacy soundtrack, Bright Eyes, David Lynch, and Innerpartysystem. Bright Eyes has announced the release of their new album The People’s Key out February 15th via Saddle Creek Records.
