Gillian Anderson: I’m ready for X-Files 3

Gillian Anderson – aka special agent Dana Scully – says she is ready to reprise her role in a third X-Files film.

While Anderson confirmed there was “definite” talk of shooting an X-Files 3, the actress emphasized that she lacked additional details about the project.

“I hope it will happen, there’s talk of it,” Anderson told Australian breakfast TV program Sunrise, in a statement quoted by Hollywood Reporter.

“I don’t know who’s writing it but I hear there’s something going on.”

Anderson also noted that she had always been interested in shooting a film spoof of the TV series, which could theoretically happen after a third (potential) X-Files movie.

“I’ve always wanted to do a spoof of the X Files as a film… [Yes], we talked about that for a long time but maybe after three features we could get to do a spoof feature.”

X-Files, created by screenwriter Chris Carter, originally aired from September 10, 1993 to May 19, 2002.

The series starred FBI agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) who investigated unsolved cases involving paranormal phenomena.

The first feature X-Files film hit theaters in 1998, which was followed a decade later by The X-Files: I Want to Believe.
