Big PS3 hit LittleBigPlanet 2 gets demo for holidays

LittleBigPlanet 2 was scheduled to be one of the biggest titles on the PS3 for the holiday season, but delays have forced it back into 2011. The publisher has just said, however, that a free demo will be available by year’s end.

LittleBigPlanet was supposed to be the game that allowed players to make their own games. Which it did…but only if you wanted to create a platformer game. LittleBigPlanet 2 is much more ambitious, allowing you to craft your own shooter, RPG, fighting game, or whatever else you can think of.

It was planned as one of the PS3’s biggest titles for the holiday season but has sadly been postponed until January. For those who just have to get their hands on it before the big Times Square ball drops to 2011, though, the newly confirmed demo will come out on December 22.

From what Sony says, it sounds like it’ll be more than enough to whet the appetite. Players will be able to go through some of the game’s story mode, check out Sackboy’s new moves, and even play around with multiplayer a little bit.

In addition, Sony also talked about a standalone downloadable game Sackboy’s Prehistoric Moves, which is a quick, 10-level game featuring everyone’s favorite sack protagonist, and PlayStation Move support. The game will be included in LBP2, but for those who don’t want that full game, Prehistoric Moves will cost $5.99.

The creations that some people were able to create with what ended up being pretty limited options in LittleBigPlanet, were nothing short of staggering. We can’t wait to see what amazing things people come up with when LBP2 comes out.
