Best-selling Ratchet & Clank series goes 3D in next outing

Ratchet & Clank, one of PlayStation’s most recognized and adored family-friendly brands, is taking it to the next level in the upcoming new addition to the series.

Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One will add to Sony’s growing catalog of video games that are compatible with stereoscopic 3D TV sets. It is the only console manufacturer to be actively supporting 3D gaming. Only a couple Xbox 360 games have 3D support, and they’re games that are also available on the PS3.

The Ratchet & Clank series has been a major hit for Sony since the first one debuted in the early years of the PS2. It first went HD in 2007 with the first title for the PS3, and now it’s going to the next dimension.

All 4 One, which is set to be released later this year, continues the storied legacy of Ratchet, a unique humanlike feline creatrue known as a lombax, and his unlikely robotic companion Clank, roam through a variety of planets on a crime-fighting quest.

Support for 3D visuals is becoming much more of a standard feature for first-party 3D games since last September, when EyePet became the first console game to be compatible with the new standard.

Users need a stereoscopic 3D, 3D glasses, and an HDMI connection to experience PS3 3D effects.
