X-Men Taking a Darker Turn in Days of Future Past (Trailer)

We at TGD are very excited that director Bryan Singer is returning to the X-Men series because we felt it took a wrong turn without him. We’re definitely hoping that Singer can bring X-Men back to its former glory, and it will also be great to see Patrick Steward and Ian McKellen returning as well.

Singer has told Collider that the next X-Men flick, Days of Future Past, will be a darker X-Men installment, which we’re certainly welcoming. When asked how he’d characterize the tone and style of the film, Singer responded, via Twitter, “Though there is a great deal of humor, the overall tone is a bit darker than previous films, particularly because of the stakes.”

Being that Days of Future Past is a time travel story, Singer added that the film will be a bit retro in parts. “In the colors, some of the style and music. I also used 16 and 8mm footage which I operated myself for some scenes, which was fun,” Singer said.

In addition, Singer mentioned there will be new X-Men characters as well, like Blink, Bishop, Sunspot, Warpath, Ink, and Quicksilver. This movie will also feature The Sentinels, and he promised that Mystique, who is played by Jennifer Lawrence, will be “a much more hardened kick-ass character than she was in First Class.”

X-Men Days of the Future Past is due for release on May 23, 2014, and again, we’re really looking forward to see if Singer can reinvent the franchise for future generations.
