Peter Dinklage Talks X-Men

Peter Dinklage is one of the best actors we have out there right now, and it’s great that he never got stuck in dwarf roles, like the guy who played Mini-Me. In fact, Dinklage turned down a lot of short people roles, including Mini-Me, to prevent himself from being type cast.

Dinklage is now in X-Men Days of Future Past where he plays Bolivar Trask, creator of The Sentinels. But as Dinklage told Entertainment Weekly, “I didn’t want to play the villain. He’s a man of science. He’s a man of invention. He actually sees what he’s doing as a good thing,” even though “[his ambition is] definitely blind and he’s quite arrogant. He’s strove all his life for a certain respect and attention.”

This is of course what we’ve seen in many mad scientist films, going all the way back to Frankenstein. To successfully play a villain, you have to put yourself in their shoes, especially when they believe the ends justify the means.

It’s great that this X-Men, which deals with time travel, will have the old school X-Men cast, along with the cast from First Class. As many movies are doing these days, there’s a fake website set up for Trask Industries that you can access here. The new model RoboCop had a similar site set up for the corporate company that creates him, and again, it’s a nice teaser for the next X-Men flick, which will be in theaters on May 23, 2014.
