Matthew Modine to play Sculley in indie Jobs flick

There’s been a lot of talk lately about the independent film titled “Jobs” which depicts the frenetic early years of the Apple co-founder.

We’ve known for a while now that Ashton Kutcher is going to be playing a young Jobs in the film, with the veteran actor recently spotted wearing Steve’s famous jeans and trademark black turtleneck sweater.

Producer David Hulme was quoted earlier this year as saying, “Since our film covers the early years of Apple, when Jobs was in his 20’s, we needed an actor who could carry not only the youthfulness of Jobs at the time but also the psychological complexity. Because of that, and Ashton’s physical similarities to Jobs, he’s perfect for our film.”

The film is set to start production soon in the actual garage that Steve Jobs and the other founders of Apple used to start the company. We also learned late last month that Ahana O’Reilly will be playing Jobs girlfriend Chris-Ann Brennan, while Broadway actor Josh Gad will take on the role of Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.

Word has now surfaced that another actor has been cast for the film. Matthew Modine, best known for his role as Joker in Full Metal Jacket, will play John Scully. Scully is a former Apple CEO who repeatedly clashed with Jobs, and was eventually replaced by Steve as the company head. Perhaps not unsurprisingly, Condé Nast Portfolio ranked Sculley as the 14th worst American CEO of all time.
