A look inside the USCSS Prometheus

Are you interested in peeking inside the USCSS Prometheus before June 8, 2012?

Well, you’re in luck, because an extensive series of new film photos –  originating from a promotional Verizon minigame – has surfaced online for all to enjoy.

Be warned that the Prometheus is not the ill-fated Nostromo of 1979 (Alien), which was hauling a refinery and twenty million tons of mineral ore, along with a seven-member crew in stasis.

Rather, the USCSS Prometheus is a scientific exploratory vessel, with a 4 vectoring hybrid drive, VTOL engines capable of interstellar and atmospheric operation.

The ship carries 5 medium-duty exploration rovers, 2 heavy mineral extractors and 4 quad-track runabouts.

Yes, it’s somewhat of a spoiler, but I think we should all be worried that Prometheus lacks weapons, at least according to a spec chart. I mean, who sends a ship into space without even rudimentary defensive capabilities?

Prometheus, which explores its own mythology and is not directly linked to Alien, hits theaters on June 8, 2012 via 20th Century Fox.
